Written for your first dance

A first dance
that isn’t someone else’s song

Tell us how you met and what you notice about each other. We write the lyrics, you change anything you want, and we produce it properly.

The usual first dance

Perfect · Ed Sheeran

Played at three other weddings at your venue this year

All of Me · John Legend

Written about his wife. Lovely. Not about yours.

A Thousand Years · Christina Perri

Written for a vampire film. Your nan won’t get it.

At Last · Etta James

Sixty-five years of other people’s weddings

Can’t Help Falling in Love · Elvis

A French waltz from 1784, borrowed a few times since

Thinking Out Loud · Ed Sheeran

The other one. Same wedding, second slow dance.

Don’t waste weeks
finding the perfect song.

You already know the feeling. Another night scrolling playlists, hunting for something that sounds like the two of you. But it’s a sea of generic love songs, and none of them know your story. The closest you get is close enough.

  • How you met

The party neither of you wanted to be at.

  • What makes you special

The thing only one of you would ever notice.

  • Your inside jokes

The nickname nobody else has ever understood.

All of it, in one song.

“We used it as our first dance song. The DJ couldn’t believe it was custom-made. Our guests were asking where to find it on Spotify.”

How your song gets made

Seven days from your answers to the finished track, and you have a say at every step of it.

Step one

Tell us in great detail

11 guided questions about the two of you: how you met, the proposal, the unremarkable things nobody else would notice. The more specific you are, the more it sounds like you and nobody else.

11 questions · saved as you go

Step two

Lyrics drafted & revised

We write the words and send them over. Change a line, a name, a whole verse, as many times as you like. Nothing gets recorded until you say the lyrics are right.

Unlimited changes before production

Step three

Production underway

Your approved lyrics get produced into a real, finished track, and it comes back as two versions, sung and arranged differently. You keep whichever one sounds like you.

Two versions · you keep one

The three minutes
everyone remembers

No actors, no scripts. Couples who walked onto a cleared floor to a song that had never been played at anybody else’s wedding.

The first dance
The floor cleared and it was just us and a song nobody had ever danced to.
Sarah & Tom
The reveal
I played it for her the week before. She made me play it three more times.
Daniel & Priya
The reception
Half the room had gone by the second chorus. My uncle asked who the artist was.
Aisha & Ben
Morning of
We listened to it getting ready, in separate rooms, at the same time.
Emma & Jo
Learning the dance
Six weeks of practising to it. By the day we knew every single beat.
Layla & Marc
After the day
It’s the song that plays in the car now. It’s just ours.
Ava & Nick
Our song mentioned the pub we met in and the dog we argue about. Our first dance was the only three minutes of the whole day nobody was filming for anyone else.

We’d spent weeks arguing about a song. Neither of us loved any of them. Having one written meant we stopped compromising and just got the thing we actually wanted.

It arrived a month before the wedding so we had time to actually learn a dance to it. The DJ asked where he could get a copy. Our guests thought we’d hired a band.

The wedding shortlist

Everyone is reading
the exact same list.

Ninety-one songs. A hundred and one songs. Two hundred ideas for every couple. Every couple planning a wedding this year is scrolling the same handful of articles and choosing from the same shortlist, which is exactly why your DJ has played it before, and why your guests already know the words.

It’s the one day you’ll be asked about for the rest of your life. Your story isn’t on anybody’s list. It should be your song.

Hear one

You don’t have to take our word for how it sounds.

You pick the style, then tell us how the night should feel. Same story, different song styles.

Ready to play

The Jacket

Acoustic sway · guitar, 6/8

0:000:00

Every one of these is the same story in a different style. Thirty-second samples of the styles we produce in, not customers’ songs. Yours is written from your own answers, comes back full length, and arrives as two versions to choose between.

Ready before we needed it

It landed a month out, exactly when they said it would. We had time to actually learn a dance instead of panicking about it the week before.

Sarah & Tom C.

They changed it until it was right

I asked for three different edits and nobody sighed at me. The last version had the line I'd been trying to write myself for a month.

Aisha & Ben M.

Nobody else had it

Two of our friends used the same song at their weddings last year. Ours is the only one that will only ever be played at one.

Daniel & Priya R.

Your own song vs. the playlist

Why have one written instead of picking one?

Your own song

Someone else’s

Written about how the two of you actually met

Your names, your places, your nicknames in the lyrics

You read the words before a note is recorded

Change a line, a verse, a name, as often as you like

Comes back as two versions, and you keep one

Sung in the voice you choose: his, hers or both

In your own language, if English isn’t it

Nobody else has ever danced to it

About a week

Finished, and yours to keep.

Nothing is recorded until you’ve approved the words

You read the lyrics first and change whatever you want, as often as you want. When it’s recorded you get two versions and keep one, with two more re-cuts if neither is right. We give you a finished-by date the moment you send your answers, and the clock pauses whenever we’re the ones waiting on you.

Questions couples ask

If yours isn’t here, reply to any email from us and a person answers.

How long does the whole thing take?

About a week from your answers to the finished song. You get a finished-by date the moment you hand your answers in, and it doesn’t move. We recommend allowing at least 7 days for song production, so there is room for any revisions you want. Two weeks before the day is the sweet spot: a week to make your song, a week to learn it.

What if we don’t like the lyrics?

Change them. A line, a name, a whole verse, as many times as you want. There is no limit and nobody sighs at you. Nothing is recorded until you say the words are right, which is the entire reason we do it in this order.

Do we get a say in how it actually sounds?

You pick the style you want, then tell us how the night should feel. Most couples don’t think in genre terms and shouldn’t have to. You describe how the night should feel, choose the style that suits you and whose voice sings it: his, hers, or both trading lines. We handle the rest of the arrangement.

What if the finished song still isn’t right?

Every round comes back as two versions and you keep one. If neither is it, you have two re-cuts. A fresh round each time, two more versions each time. Worst case you’ll have heard six before you settle on one.

Can it be in a language other than English?

Yes. The song is written and sung in the language you choose. We’ll carry on talking to you in English.

What do we actually get at the end?

An MP3 to download with a proper filename, not a string of numbers. Plus a private page you can hand to your DJ and your family, with the song name and the lyrics, and nothing else on it.

How much work is this for us?

11 questions at the start. Answer them in one sitting or over a week, they save as you go. After that it’s a reply at each step. We ask for one within 48 hours so the date holds, and the clock pauses whenever we’re the ones waiting on you.

Is it really written for us, or is it a template?

It’s written from your answers: your names, the party neither of you wanted to be at, the nickname nobody else understands. That’s why we ask for so much detail. Nobody else has ever danced to it, and nobody else ever will.
